It surveys different references to God’s love and select certain passages with which we will be invited to pray. Its aim is to show aspects of the deep and profound love that God has had for his people from Genesis to Zephaniah. This book forms the hundred and sixteenth in the series Contemplative Reading of Scripture. As with other books in this series, this book offers a pattern of prayer called the “Prayer of the Heart to the Trinity.” In this book, chapter 12 describes this type of prayer.This book also follows a contemplative way of reading Scripture called CLASP. These letters stand for: Cor (Heart), Lectio (Reading), Auditus (Listening), Suspiria (Whispers), and Pax (Peace). We begin in our “heart” with prayer. We “read” through our Scripture passage. We “listen” to what this passage says to our hearts. We express in “sighs” to the Holy Spirit our longing to understand the Scripture more deeply. We end our prayer time in “peace.”In this book all Scripture quotations are from the New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition. In some passages, I have changed from indirect to direct address in order to make the encounter with God more personal.
